You can be invested in the community in a variety of ways.  You can attend meetings, volunteer your time, coach your son or daughters ball game or give back to the community financially.  Although we are active in our community and attend community meeting and volunteer our time for the Homes for Heroes Foundation, Madison Helping Hands, Boys and Girls Club of Dane County, and various other non-profits we also give back 5% of all of our commission earned to charity.   We believe in Dave Ramsey's theory when he says, "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give".

As I sit here typing, I have some very vivid images in my mind from Heroes we helped and some of the organizations we donate too.  One of our most memorable moments from 2015...

We were contacted that a Sheriff in Wisconsin had just got diagnosed with cancer for a third time.  With sick time exhausted, the expenses were adding up fast and Christmas was right around the corner.  We made a few arrangements and found out when the deputy was going to stop in at the department again (of course we were trying to be sneaky).  We got ushered through the sheriff's department into a conference room where we waited...     The Hero had no idea what was to come and was just told to come to the conference room.  With only four or five of us in the room, the deputy walked in.  With a puzzled look, a friend who told us about the deputy made the introductions.  I started to talk and explain that each year we create a Christmas Miracle for a special family, a family that feel could use a little cheer and I could see the emotion come over him and my voice suddenly broke.  I am in the Military, I am suppose to be strong and be able to hold back my own emotions.  Words cannot explain the emotions in the room.  It was just an amazing moment and it makes everything do worth it.  As I sit here and think about that moment again it just makes me smile of how we were able to brighten a families day and help them when they were down.
